saw beancounter. the neighbors – he’s got to tell them to seed right away or the next rain will wash their new dirt away. he had lunch/breakfast with forman and listened him tell him everything that was wrong. then he made the mistake of asking if everything else was okay. no. basement, retail, then the first of the five residential floors, laying steel down before putting planks in. like building with an erector set. how the neighbors probly wanted the company to seed their lawn. beancounter allowed as how he liked guy’s negotiation techniques, he was in awe, could never do it like that. guy is so hard nosed.

it rained most of the night. gentle, slow. it’s colder now, and got colder thru the day. more steel. lots of guys out this morning.only the baby dozers out now.

the booom pump is back. dumptrucks line the ramp waiting for the dirt from the back yards. they keep pulling in steel and lifting it up to the 4th floor. the mexicans are whistling directions at each other. it doesn’t sound a bit like music. it sounds like words, sentences. a front came thru last night, but didn’t rain on us. it’s cooler now outside. they stayed until dark, smoothing out the concrete. and then it was too late. they cemented over the vault.
