putting up the steel elevator cage

i was away. they put up the steel for the top floor and built up the steel around the elevator shaft. when i came home wednesday night they’d strung lights on the first two residential floors and also the commercial floor. can see lots of steel studs on the commercial floor, and much of it is now enclosed by cinderblock. no movement out of the crane today, we wonder if they’re going to put planking on the roof too.

nice and warm, some clouds, maybe i’ll work out in the back today. the compost pile would be bigger except there are no more leaves in bags anywhere. but it hasn’t rained at all except a sprinkle wed morning. maybe i’ll do the strip composting thing in the yard itself today.

scaffolding as a barrier

fucking freezing outside. i had to go around in the blasting wind and the iced up air and pull in all the plants i’d been leaving outside. lost the spider babies before i did so, and leaving the wandering thing there seems to have severely stunted it all the way to the roots. i won’t miss it, left it there on purpose. i had on my cloack with the hood up and my plaid scarf and my mittens and kept the door open and let dog and cat wander, tho he went to the front door and stood there waiting and monkey the cat roamed around looking for warmth and came back.

bright and sunny, not a cloud, no wind all day thank god. mostly got the 5th floor up, just a little bit left at the west end. bricking up parts of the store space, putting up steel studs. scaffolding is arrayed with long beams curving in the middle, maybe 4 or 5 of them? was one yesterday. don’t know what they’re doing. first residential floor. they went home before 5, like all week.
